Today, I’m working with:
- Grey Toned Paper
- Ebony Pencil (Or any soft Graphite)
- Kneaded and Rubber Erasers
- Carbon Pencil, Black Colored Pencil, or Creatacolor Black Pencil
- White Chalk Pencil
- Shading Stumps
In this session, we’ll cover:
- Drawing and sketching the landscape
- Drawing Mountains
- Atmospheric Perspective
- Realistic shading techniques

While I was drawing this scene there were a lot of learning curves; my hands had to attach to what my mind was trying to create and my mind had to attach that it was doing more than making lines. This is very good exercise for the mind.
My mountain mist attempt
Mine’s 9×6 on heavy textured paper. If I was to try this again would use larger or smoother paper to help with the mistyness.

I finally finished No. 52 – Drawing Atmosphere Mountain. Hopefully it posts correctly as I am very rural and internet is sometimes not very reliable. This is same paper you used Scott, except it is only 5×7. Love these classes; am learning a lot. Trying to especially pay attention to the direction you shade along with the pressure you apply. Thanks Scott!
Great subject…some parts worked. I need a better white pencil.
My 1st ever attempt at a landscape. Made myself “finish” it cause again I couldn’t get into it. ‘Maybe with practice I could start enjoying landscapes. I find faces, architecture and still life more interesting/ my style. Thanks again for another great Drawing Together session.
A little rushed but I did it.
Have really enjoyed drawing with Scott. I never thought I really liked drawing, so this has been invaluable. Ofttimes I have 2 of my grandkids drawing with us, as well.
I used charcoal again and both charcoal white pencil and white conte crayon for the mist. This was tough at times-thought I was losing atmospheric perspective but I think it turned out ok after I worked it longer. It was easy to be caught up fussing with it longer than necessary. Great subject!!
