    Good afternoon Scott, I am taking the chicken route here smh. I watched the complicated drawing this past Wednesday and decided I need more practice. So, I have tried my hand at the leaf. Can you please offer some advice? I also would like to know the brand of white chalk pencil you use because regular chalk doesn’t provide me the same outcome you achieved. Thank you again for a great tutorial. Hopefully, I’ll see you all on this Wednesday for Part 2 It’s Complicated.

    I finally got around to doing the leaf! I enjoyed this one! Though I wasn’t too sure about how it would turn out during the “ugly duckling stage”. Deciding where to add shading in the background and where not to add it was challenging for me when the photo was all light blue sky behind the leaf. I didn’t pay super-close attention to getting all the leaf points accurate, but as long as it looks like a leaf… ?.

    I just had white paper so getting the tonal variations was. . . . . . . challenging. BUT, I learned a lot, so thank you for all the specific tips and pointers, especially regarding 3edges.

    Thanks Scott for this lesson. I have always had a hard time drawing a leaf. Your tips on comparing point locations and modifying the contour line as you go was very helpful. I still feel the tips of my leaf are not quite realistic, so need some help on that.

    Thanks Scott for another great session. I could of kept going on the detail but decided to stop instead of being too detailed (one of my many faults). Ebony pencil, white chalk on grey paper.
