this episode is Part of the Drawing Together live video series – learn more here
This is the first we’ve tackled this subject in the series. Today, we’ll be working on capturing the folds and texture of fabric, exploring the subtle shifts in value, observing the play of light and shadow, and trying to express the texture of the material. Follow along using this reference image, or work from life using your own fabric: https://bit.ly/30ApM38

Looking forward to doing the most recent fabric episode.
This is a bit of a mess, but I feel it might look like fabric in a few small places 🙂
I really fabric would be tough to do, but a great lesson subject. It was every bit as hard—and time consuming—as I figured. I worked on it for ages! Used toned gray paper.
My version of the fabric
Wow great fabric has been posted.
Fabric is hard. I think it would be easier to do fabric as in clothing on a body. How about the Statue of Liberty 😉
I can’t see mountains, clouds OR fabric! I might see some faces in agony. HA! Oh well….
I like it and think you did a really nice job…it reads fabric to me!
Sand dunes aren’t a bad thing…at least you can see something in yours! HA! I like your softness.
WOW! You did GREAT!!!
This wasn’t what I was hoping for but I tried ?. For a while it looked like a pile of ears. At least it resembles fabric now. LOL. Great practice session.
Well I thought I had finished so took the photo.. now I see all the “unfinished” spots as well as the “unnatural” highlights. Oh well spent hours on it and I am done…. thanks for another great challenge (I actually though this would be easier than it was).
That was a tough one! Mine ended up like sand dunes or something! Marvelous exercise, though. Love drawing along with you. You rock!
